Motives.

  • Most people find the tradition way that displaying text information next to the artefact in museum and gallery space is not attractive.

  • Mostly the text information were written in very small fonts, which is hard for people to read unless they get very close to it.

  • However, in a busy gallery like the MET, or even NGV, it is quite hard to each visitors to get an immersive experience with the artefacts.

Ideation.

  • We wanted to create an application that allow visitors to have more interactive experience within the museum settings.

  • The main goal of this product should be: innovative, using cutting-edge technologies, creating immersive and unique experience for each visitor.

Design Process.

  • We decided to go with Apple's ARKit, along with Vuforia. Vuforia will act like an AR database. So when user use Interactive Museum to scan (using phone's camera) an artefact, as long as it's inside our Vuforia database, system will recognize the object and display corresponding informations.

  • Interactive Museum offers multiple interactive ways for visitors. For example, visitors can get text and video descriptions, information on related objects, some tiny games that suits the theme (e.g. virtual piano for Beethoven's work).  Visitors can also directly share their museum experience on social media platforms.
